Lock the app with Face ID or fingerprint
Ask for Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint whenever someone opens the Shorebird app on your phone.
On this page
App lock keeps your leads, bookings and messages private if someone else picks up your phone. When it’s on, the Shorebird app asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint before it shows anything.
App lock is only in the Shorebird app for iPhone and Android. It doesn’t change how you sign in to the portal in a web browser.
Turn on app lock
- In the app, open More and select Account under Settings.
- Turn on Unlock with Face ID. On Android it says Unlock with fingerprint or Unlock with face unlock, depending on your phone.
- Confirm with your face or fingerprint when your phone asks.
You only see this setting if your phone has Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint set up. Set one up in your phone’s settings first, then come back.
App lock is saved on this phone only. If you use the app on another phone, turn it on there too.
When the app asks you to unlock
With app lock on, the app asks for your face or fingerprint:
- every time you open it, and
- when you come back to it after 5 minutes or more in another app.
Switching away for a moment, for example to answer a text, doesn’t lock it.
If you close the prompt, you’ll see Shorebird is locked. Select Unlock to try again, or Sign out to sign out and sign back in with your email and password.
You won’t be asked to unlock right after you sign in with your password. You’ve just proved it’s you.
Turn off app lock
- Open More and select Account under Settings.
- Turn off Unlock with Face ID (or Unlock with fingerprint).
